CONTEXT

The National Disability Data Asset pilot aimed to design a way to de-identify and link all available disability community data across jurisdictions. Helping facilitate better, evidence-based decisions.

Through design, collaboration and prototyping with community and policy-makers we redefined how to ensure decisions are based on data, without treating people like statistics.

OVERVIEW

I led the technical design and development of the prototype. The prototype went through a number of iterations over a 12 week period and ultimately landed on a map-based interface.

I created a new dataset that attached disability community data with geospatial (GeoJSON) data enabling the exploration of data insights based on Local Government Area.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Implementing a user interface based around geographical space
  • Using geospatial data and the Mapbox library
  • Working with Machine Learning and Data Science experts from the Department of Premier and Cabinet
